This run to Mono Pass is based at the back of Rock Creek Canyon and starts at Mosquito Flat Trailhead. This route brings you steadily up above Little Lakes Valley with terrific views of various lakes in the valley. Continuing up the trail presents you with a side-trip to Ruby Lake, a stunning sapphire-tinted Eastern Sierra lake. Moving along the trail to Mono Pass the trail begins to climb with winding switchbacks higher in elevation before reaching a flat piece that presents you with the final climb to the pass. Once at Mono Pass you can see down to Summit Lake with peaks and granite all around. Take a day to run or hike to this pass! You won't regret the classic Sierra vistas and you will gain a great day in the outdoors you won't forget.
