Sage to Summit opened our Bishop rock climbing gym in the Summer of 2018 and it has been very well received by local and visiting climbers. We built the gym around the idea of bringing the climbing community together to celebrate how amazing climbing is. We also wanted to provide the local community with all the best resources to train for their climbing goals.
Running is a means of terrestrial locomotion allowing humans and other animals to move swiftly on foot. Mountain Running is a discipline of long-distance running that takes place in mountain topography. Mountain Running can be defined by two philosophies: 1) the appreciation of the joy and benefits of moving rapidly on foot through natural mountain landscapes, and/or 2) the athletic pursuit of the fastest possible speed on foot over a given mountain route, given considerations of risk and safety.

This run to Mono Pass is based at the back of Rock Creek Canyon and starts at Mosquito Flat Trailhead. This route brings you steadily up above Little Lakes Valley with terrific views of various lakes in the valley. Continuing up the trail presents you with a side-trip to Ruby Lake, a stunning sapphire-tinted Eastern Sierra lake. Moving along the trail to Mono Pass the trail begins to climb with winding switchbacks higher in elevation before reaching a flat piece that presents you with the final climb to the pass. Once at Mono Pass you can see down to Summit Lake with peaks and granite all around. Take a day to run or hike to this pass! You won't regret the classic Sierra vistas and you will gain a great day in the outdoors you won't forget.
